Mount Airy’s rescuers combine small-town friendliness with a focus on passing knowledge forward. Volunteers mentor newcomers, run public-safety education, and train for water, vehicle, and community rescues — building local capability one shift and one class at a time. Their approach is neighborly and deliberate: teach well, train often, and be the familiar face people can rely on.
