One County, One Rescue

The Surry County Association of Rescue Squads, commonly referred to as SCARS, is a collective, collaborative organization that unites the 6 primary rescue providers for Surry County, NC. We provide a platform for funding, cooperation, planning, and advancement for the discipline of Technical Rescue.

Together, our agencies work to make sure that no matter who's jurisdiction you live in that you have access to Technical Rescue and Medical First Response Services.

Rooted in Volunteerism

All of our agencies are volunteer based, with only a couple supplemented by paid staff. With a variety of ways to volunteer, it is up to communities to dedicate the time and effort to keep volunteer emergency services active.

Rooted in Community

Volunteer emergency services arose from within communities to help neighbors support neighbors. It's not just about providing a service; it's about being something our communities can own and be proud of.
